Let’s hear it. Do you contest?
Well, you should. If you’re a writer of fiction, chances are you have a manuscript just laying around that could fit quite nicely into one of the many contests available.
Here are some recent contests posted around the web:
Random House – Short Fiction. Deadline: January 31, 2009. $100 and publication
Macmillan – Best First Crime Novel. Hurry. Deadline is Nov. 14! Take a deep breath and submit that novel!
Writer’s Digest wants to see your Short Shorts. Deadline is December 1. First place is 3 grand. That’s 2 bucks a word, folks. (no extra charge for the math calculation)
American Short Fiction – Short Fiction (duh). Deadline is Dec. 8 $1000 and publication for first place
Women on Writing WOW! – Quarterly contests Fall Contest open now. First place wins cash and all kinds of goodies!
