According to NY Times Best Selling Author Rebecca Brandewyne, this post is the real myth. Depending upon the contract and the economy, the publisher has the right to ask for repayment. The fact that they often don’t does not negate the wording of the contract.

@Dee: I know this post is heavily oriented towards published authors, but You’re going to find great info there about all kinds of scams that target all manner of writers.

Hi George, I'll have to visit the site and see if it applies to my writing category. There are certainly many different levels of writing. I love to write but novel writing doesn't apply to me.
