For the Read an E-Book Week, my books at Smashwords are half off!
On several occasions I’ve posted about my love for Smashwords.com I’ve several E-books published over there and just this last week, one of them topped the 1000 downloads mark. The others that I have there are doing pretty well, too and overall Smashwords has exposed me to about 3000 folks who have downloaded one E-book or another of mine. Heck, the last time I was exposed to 3000 folks I got a public indecency charge. (pending)
If you have an E-book and you’ve been wondering where to publish the thing, look no further. Seriously, Smashwords is the way to go. Do you have a collection of short stories or flash fiction that you’ve been waiting to publish? Get off your duff and get on over to Smashwords. The sign up is free. The process is straightforward and easy as pie.
Take my word for it, just this once. This Saturday afternoon, you could be emailing all your buddies about having your E-Book published.
Long time readers here know that a lot of what I post about has to do with inspiring writers to get on with it and just start writing. It’s not always easy to do and in fact many folks lock up when it comes to the act of sitting down and making the words flow. This great E-book will do wonders for helping folks get on track.
Earlier this week I received a tweet from Laurie Pawlik-Kienlin. She has a number of websites that weave quotes into the content that help bring the intended points home. One of these blogs is Quips and Tips for Writers. I know Laurie through my interaction with her on that site. I’ve always found her advice to be sound and every time I go there I learn something new. So when I saw the tweet that she had a new E-book, I was all about writing a review.
When I received the E-book I was not disappointed. It was full if the kind of wisdom I was used to getting on Quips and Tips. At under 70 pages, it is a quick read and the format of the book allows the reader to take on whichever chapter “speaks” to them first. This isn’t the kind of book that necessarily requires the reader to sequentially move through the chapters.
In a lot of ways, the title of this book really says it all. The information here is designed to positively influence writers (or those who want to write) to get on with their writing. It does this by identifying the most common attributes of being stuck and then provides real world solutions for setting things on fire.
The book is divided into three chapters:
Within each of these chapters, specifics are addressed regarding each topic.
I like the format a lot because it is easy to go to an area that I know is a weakness for me. Once I’m there the words of wisdom are short, inspirational and easy to digest. Her “world famous” quips really do help to drive the points home. There is something about seeing these quotes from famous authors that makes me feel like I can do what I’m trying to accomplish.
I would recommend this for writers of both the new and the seasoned variety. I know there are times when I’m just plain stuck. My muse is MIA and nothing is getting put to paper. It would be nice to have this book around to help inspire.
For a closer look at the table of contents or to order the ebook you can go to the web site: http://theadventurouswriter.com/fireupthemuse/
If you end up getting the book, I’d be interested in hearing what you think.
Hey Laurie, thanks for giving me the opportunity to review the E-book!
Through the newsletter sent to me by Mark Coker over at Smashwords, I learned that March 7 – 13 is Read an E-Book Week. Awesome! There are so many ways to read e-books. If you have a computer, you can participate. Head on over to ebookweek.com and have a look at all of the resources to help you in this worthwhile venture.
You may feel like you’re cheating on your paper books, but Ms. E is a worthy mistress/temptress.
I’ll bet your paper books will forgive this one little indiscretion.
Be sure and let us know about your experience this week!
“The Writing Experience… offers the beginning writer down-to-earth and proactive advice for how to start—and succeed—in writing. It’s a big day over here at Tumblemoose. I’m happy to let folks know that this morning my e-book The Writing Experience – An inspiring guide for aspiring writers has been published and is available at Smashwords.
This e-book has been a long time coming. The subject had been a tickle in my brain for several months and it seems that I just never got down to the business of writing the darned thing.
When I decided to finally sit down and write the book, I had envisioned a little ol’ ten pager with a few tips. After hitting nearly 20 pages with just two or so chapters done, I had to re-think things a bit.
The final edition ended up being 45 pages.
There are chapters on setting up your writing routine, revising and marketing your work and conquering your writing fears. Other chapters include writing exercises and prompts.
At the end of each chapters are links to related posts here at Tumblemoose. The material in The Writing Experience is not just a rehash of what I have written previously. Each chapter takes a fresh approach to the topic.
The book is available for purchase and immediate download at Smashwords. The cost is $10.95. When you go to the site page for The Writing Experience you can view 25% of the book for free before deciding on a purchase.
When you view the book in HTML at the site you may notice a formatting bump or two. Not to worry. The .pdf and other versions for download preserved the original intended formatting.
Once you have purchased the book, please feel free to get in touch with any questions or feedback. I’d love to hear from you.
