I am so excited that June is here. I had decided a while ago that this genre needed to be addressed since:
A. I have done virtually nothing to address this worthwhile subject.
B. It is a wide open and potentially lucrative market.
C. My recent stint as a Elementary School Librarian has inspired me.
First, let me address all of you writers that have no intention of writing for children:
Back slowly away from your browser. Keep your hands where I can see ‘em. Do not hit your “back” button or RSS unsubscribe. I mean it.
There is going to be plenty to learn about writing this month. Many of the tips and processes for getting published will apply no matter where you hang your hat.
I would also like to issue a challenge to you. Write a children’s book this month – or at least outline a story that you can work on. A picture book is a great leaping off point. Are you more inspired? Consider a chapter book.
Look forward to reading posts about:
Which books are popular with children these days.
How to find an illustrator for your picture book
A guest post from Jon at CBI Clubhouse
A list of Agents that specialize in children’s book writers
Children’s book terminology and definitions
A guest post from a famous childrens book author (hopefully – still working on it)
While it’s early in the month, be sure and get in touch if there is a particular topice that confounds you in terms of writing for children.

Can you help me get over my fear of children this month? They have such sharp teeth…

Hi Yolander!
That is exactly the idea. Those little guys and gals do have sharp teeth and I aim to file them down a bit.
This week I’ll do a review of http://www.cbiclubhouse.com They are the most comprehensive site in terms of writing for children.
Strap on in for the ride, it should be fun!

i seem to start writing books and never get them finished. 2 are children’s books. just last night my daughter remember the story i told her – the story i plan to turn into a book and it hit me – i need to complete the book. if your child enjoys something, then other children might too. it’s a fun story.

Natural,
I struggle with that too. I call it “completion syndrome”. Not sure what stops me from finishing – but it does happen.
By the way, I loved your last post. This is me re-scanning my comment for any typos…

Perhaps what is daunting is writing for a particular age group. I think that must be very specialised.
