There I was, minding my own business. Ok so that’s not really accurate. I was minding Tumblemoose business. For about the last month. The big plan was to ease into some writing projects with any luck and the grace of God. Once the ball got rolling, give notice at my 9-5 slave labor gig and go full-time freelance. The past week has been no less than crazy, with every project that I put feelers on coming through and a few I didn’t expect raising their heads. Now I have to quit my day job. Or figure out how to get by on 2.5 hours sleep a night.
Since Tumblemoose is no longer a strappin’ young lad, 2.5 hours of sleep is not going to cut it.
This is not me complaining. This is me a little in awe over the events that have transpired over the past few weeks. I am grateful, thankful and more than just a little excited – oh, and scared.
With that said, I’m gonna get right on it.

George, congratulations…that’s great news that the writing projects have come through for you!
Way to go,
Matt
Hey Matt. Thanks a bunch, ya know?
Good times…
Hi! Just found your blog through Men with Pens. Congrats… I quit my day job last April and swear I will NEVER GO BACK. But I can’t say the freelance jobs have been rolling in… how did you line up so many gigs?!
Hi Monica,
Thanks for the congrats, and good for you for leaving the proverbial rat race!
I’ve been writing for Textbroker.com for about two months, and initially those were pretty tiny jobs, but several have turned in to HUGE direct orders from clients. I absolutely recommend them. Otherwise, I’ve queried some magazines through my 2009 Writer’s Market book. Otherwise, I spend a little time each day looking though some of the freelance job sites such as Problogger and the Writer’s Manifesto (those are linked to from tumblemoose).
It does take time every day, “pounding the pavement”. I feel very fortunate thus far.
I’m heading over right now to look at your site, thanks again!
George
Ah, the joys of freelancing. Feast or famine. It;s great you can quit your job, though. Congrats.
Hi Jamie,
Thanks for the comments. Trust me, famine is a constant undercurrent in my head. I’m going to try and make the most of my current feast, for sure.
George
Hi George – Isn’t it wonderful when everything falls into place and you know quitting your day job is the right thing to do? I wish you much success on your new endeavors.
Barbara,
Thanks so much for the encouragement.
By the way, I spent a few minutes looking through your website.
I like your style, and the site is wonderful. It looks like there’s a lot og gold to be mined there, I’ll be visiting again, and I’m adding a link on the tumblemoose site.
Thanks again!
George
Well done to you George! Obviously you have put hardwork into Tumblemoose, and your pay day has come. Now that is a reason to jump up for joy! Wishing you all the best.
Hi George,
Congratulations!
I found your site through your comment link on Blogging Without a Blog. I can completely relate. I’ve started freelancing as a blogging and technical consultant and still have my full time day job. I’m getting more work but am not quite ready to leave my day job. I can’t wait until I can announce that I’ve left the 9-5 like you have (and get some sleep
Sharon, Thanks for the words of support! Yuppers, lots of labor, but it is a labor of love…
Hi Kim,
Thanks for the comments. It always makes me feel great to read what others have to say.
I went to your website and looked around a bit.It seems to me that you are very talented in a number of ways. Congrats to you and I know it’s just a matter of time. Great pic of Stan, by the way. He sure looks like a nice guy (great smile).
Also, I like your site design. It was a very pleasant visit.
