Guest Post by AverageGal

One of the great things about blogging is finding a little treasure when you least expect it.  That happened to me when I stumbled upon the refreshing AverageGal web site.  The content was fresh, the site layout was a breeze and the writing style made for an easy read.  I got in touch with Rachel and asked if she would consider a guest post for Tumblemoose and she happily obliged.

Thanks, Rachel.  It’s good to have you here!

As a guest blogger, I’d like to share a little bit of insight about how I’ve come to consider myself a writer and a blogger.  I took many English classes in high school, a couple courses at college, and wrote many, many papers over the course of my collegiate career.  Funny thing is I always used to dread those papers.  Now, writing has a totally different meaning for me.  Instead of being a daunting task, cranking out a post of two a day is actually a great escape from the crazy, every-day life of a work-at-home mother of two young girls, wife, chef, chauffer, maid, and personal shopper.

My blog, AverageGal.com, started on the premise that I like to learn and enjoy sharing my knowledge with others even more!  I was curious about the online business of blogging for money.  So, I recently quit my 9-5 job to become a full-time blogger.  It hasn’t been easy.  In fact, it’s been quite difficult.  I’ve found that the learning curve is enormous.  But, little by little, day by day, I have started to grow by leaps and bounds.  I’m in the process of developing from a “blogging novice” to getting a grasp on the world of the social networking and blogging.

Social networking?  Yes, you heard me.  Blogging wouldn’t be possible without the abundance of social networks that are available.  You would be typing away, hearing the click-clacking of your keyboard, to no avail.  Social networks give you and your blog exposure to the outside world; they let others know that “you” exist.

You don’t have to have a Doctorate in English, a college degree, or even a high school degree to be able to blog.  All you need is a computer, an internet connection, and the desire to share your words with the world.  That’s the beauty of blogging.  Find something that you’re passionate about, make some social connections, and don’t give up!

Along the same lines...

    Hi Rachel!
Like the guest post! George, well done for getting Rachel on board!

Rachel, fair play to you for quitting your 9-5 for blogging, I’ not that brave, I don’t think I ever will be, but I really enjoy my job, so I’d be lost without it, not to mention broke! :)

I agree with you, social networking is a valuable and indespensible tool for bloogers, I for one would be lost without it.

    Thanks for the great post!

Hi Rachel! Well you sound like you have the challenges of blogging pinpointed – now it’s working on them that will move you forward. I can agree with each one but isn’t blogging the best job?! I am envious that you are a full timer…someday
