  2. George, you have deftly captured what it must mean to be a First Responder.

All in the line of duty, you would humbly say, but not everyone can do what these selfless folks do. Day after day. Night after night. Weekends. Holidays. And you take it home with you, I’m certain.

Thank you for giving us a peek at your former self, my friend. It reveals a lot about your character. As a man who really cares.

    • Wayne,

Oh yeah, you take it home – hard not to. I remember working shifts as long as 72 hours. After, I’d drive home and when I pulled into my driveway I’d reach for the mike to put myself “in quarters”. Hehe. Those were crazy days, my friend.

  3. Hi George,

Man, I just love you to pieces. I started to recognize this story about 1/2 way through — this is the *real* George!

I was riveted; eyes glued to the screen. Thanks for sharing this, George.
You have many talents and have experienced such great adventures. I want to read more of these stories!

    • Aww, shucks, Ma’am. So glad you liked the story, Lori. When I think about it, I probably have dozens of calls interesting enough to turn into stories. Some are tragic, some uplifting, some just plain nutso.

      Thanks for coming by!

  4. I agree with the others, this is a great view into that world. I didn’t know you were in that field at all. Learn something new every day. I must send you the utmost respect for doing that. I have wondered if it could have been something I would have pursued. What an intriguing person you are…

    Anyways, very cool George!!!

    • Hey, Thanks Chris. I appreciate the good words. It’s kinda funny, when you’re doing it, it just feels like a job. Umm, one that does tend to leave scars…

    • Hey Franklin,

Thanks for stopping by, and I appreciate the thoughts. I’m heading over to have a look at your flash fiction page right now.

      Cheers
