I recently found an ebook at a blog that I visit regularly, The Writer’s Manifesto. I visit there frequently because the site owner Monika Mundell has a great writing style and always has a lot of helpful hints for freelance writers.
When I saw the ebook, I knew it would be the one for this week’s review because it’s all about writing an ebook, and that just happens to be my current project. Back in early January I wrote a post debating the pros and cons of e-books and I’ve decided to give it a go. Hang on to your knickers, Tumblemoose clan, it should be out next week!
The title of the ebook is: How to Create Your Own Information Ebooks, In a few easy steps.
The Review
First, I have to say that the title lets me know right away what I’m getting. There is nothing more frustrating than taking the time to download an ebook, waiting for my $^#@$* Adobe Acrobat reader to open and paging through page after page of stuff, only to find that this wasn’t what I was looking for at all!
The front matter of the book is informative, including an enlightening page about Monika and her qualifications, a guide to what this guide will do for you and a what you can and can’t do redistribution page – which I totally plan to steal and put in my ebook. Hehe. (After I beg Monika, of course)
There is a lot more here than just “Go to this site, make your ebook, convert it to .pdf here, blah, blah, blah.” There are sections on picking the right market for your ebook and researching trends. A nifty little section explains the use of Google Adwords Keywords Tool in an easy to understand and non-intimidating manner.
A page of “Must Have Tools” provides some links to sources that are invaluable for writing an ebook. I visited virtually every site listed and actually ended up signing up at a few of them.
Finally, there are short and informative sections on creating, converting and marketing your ebook.
The takeaway: I like the book. At 11 pages, it is an easy read in one sit-down, it has just the right amount of information and there are lots of little tidbits that mean a lot.

George-
I appreciate you taking the time to review these books. Getting first hand information from a trusted source (you) helps me grab books that I am more likely to enjoy. I downloaded this one, and will give it a read.
Thanks!
