Ya know, sometimes it’s about the blogger, not necessarily the blog. As I was spanning the globe looking for this week’s entry into the New Blog of The Week, I came across a tweet that was congratulating one of my favorite tweet peeps on her securing of a pub contract. I went to her web site, wrote a congratulatory comment and then smacked myself on the forehead. Duh! Of course this is an excellent blog for the NBOTW!
I’ve been following her writing adventures for a few months now as she progressed chapter by chapter. I think what really pushed me over the edge were her podcasts. Yes the story is great but I dare you to find a more melodious voice out there. I double-dog dare ya.
As I spent time looking through her archives and just generally poking around the site, it became apparent that there is a wealth of great information for writers, readers and just about everyone else. As well, the site is clean with no clutter or anything to distract you from your mission of enjoying a site with great reads.
What permeates all of the posts and articles is a strong sense of honesty and genuine-ism. It’s great. It’s just like an expanded version of following her on Twitter – it’s just that you get so much more than 140 characters.
Check out some excerpts from recent posts:
“The commitment puts me in mind of the post I wrote on this blog’s six month anniversary. I made three promises in that post: that I would be podcasting every week, that I would start a short story club (which is now in its third month) and that by November 2009 Twenty Years Later would either have a home or be in pre-production for self-publishing.” – from The Power of Words and Writing
“I think back to when I started this blog. I was terrified of all of it. It literally took months to publish my first post. Then I was gloriously Havi’d (yes, that should be a verb). Then I found Diana and Graham, then later Twitching Grey and of course, Paperback Jack. And so many others.” – From Stories to pave the Path to Dreams
I don’t think I need to include any more excerpts to give a sense of what a wonderful person she is.
I’m proud to introduce Emma Newman’s blog, Post-Apocalyptic Publishing as the new blog of the week.
Cheers, Emma
C’mon everyone! Let’s go have a look!

I’m glad I can write here, and that you can’t hear me – I’m all out of breath from running downstairs to tell my husband, and then running to tell all the other rooms in the house in case they wanted to know too.
Gosh, what a thrill! Thank you, how kind… and oh heavens I don’t know what to say…
WHEEEE! I think that about sums it up

Emma Newman´s last blog ..Burning to write
Emma was the first person to leave a comment on my blog. We started our blogs at the same time too. I made her my muse, hoping that if she could stay online, I could too. She is consistently persistent, if there is such a thing!
I’m delighted to see her reach her goals so quickly and I am delighted to have her wonderful stories to read, but I am more delighted to have Emma, the person, in my small cadre of commenters. With your forgiveness Emma, here is a small sample of your support on my blog:
“Six months ago, you and I both started to blog, not knowing where on earth it was going to take us. Not knowing whether it would be worth the effort, or futile, or just a plain disaster.
But look at us now! We have connected, over so many miles, and six months ago that would have seemed an impossibility. So something is happening.
Something. Is. Happening…
I want you to come to England and sit with me on the Cornish cliffs so that I may introduce you humbly to my ocean. Who knows what lies ahead – but as long as we have these dreams, we still live.”
How impoverished my blog would feel without her.
Diana´s last blog ..La Vida es Dulce (Life is Sweet)
Wow, thanks Diana, how lovely of you to take the time to say that here, I feel all warm and fluffy now. I do still want you to meet me on the Cornish cliffs you know

I’m there, Emma. We may be 90 years old by then but we will see them together if there’s any way I can manage it.
