This week’s find isn’t a brand spanking new blog, nor is it an oldie. I tell you what, though. Whether you are coming or going, this blog is worthy of recognition. The information that the owner gives us is wonderful and his writing style is just plain entertaining. Hmmm. great content delivered with great style? An unbeatable combination in my book.
I first ran across him through Twitter and after just a few visits to his site I was hooked. I must admit a bit of bias here because his site does focus on writing. The tips and posts and links would be helpful for most any writer – novelist, blogger or anyone else who makes a living – or wants to make a living – through the written word.
Check out a few excerpts from his posts:
“Let us consider the value feelings first. In order to write good work, you have to be self critical and submit to the criticism of others. You have to be prepared to tear apart, discard, rewrite, and rethink much of what you do. This unending belief that your work is not yet good enough, has to have some influence on your thinking. It would be understandable for you to think “My product is so unworthy when compared to other good works, you Mr Customer would be better off spending your money there.” - From Why is it wrong to sell your work
“The social pressure around any aspiring writer who is holding down a steady job makes it difficult to remain human and still write. Which probably accounts for why so many of them, who I have talked to, write very early in the morning, whilst the rest of the house sleeps.” - From Sorry, but I am too busy writing
He has a very real world, down to earth approach in his writing and how he presents his information. That is why his content is so easy to digest. In addition to his great articles, every week he does a Sunday wash-up – links to articles from around the net about writing. The breadth of content is no less than amazing. I could spend an entire week just clicking through the links.
Without any more delay, I’d like to introduce the New Blog of the Week:
Shack’s Comings and Goings
Congratulations, Andy! Your site is incredible and I’m glad to have you around.
Go see what Andy is up to, everyone. I know you’ll be impressed.

George, George, George…
Oh my! What do I say?
Probably “Thanks” would be a good start but then it is so inadequate.
And I note, you have been digging into the posts to find the two good bits from all my unworthy words; neat trick.
The problem for me after having received a glowing accolade like this, is in future I will feel compelled to ‘write’ up to it. You have set me a hard task for the winter months, err thanks.
So, somewhat shocked and happily humbled, I do thank you.
For this and especially for all the effort, that you personally put in to finding and promoting all the blogs in your Blog-of-the-Week.
Wishing you – Health, Wealth and Happy Scribbling

Mr. Andy –
I am so proud to be able to do this. I want everyone to know about your site because I’ve not seen anything quite like it. Your style is great, your info is top notch and I feel like I am lucky to have met you.
Congrats, mate.
George
Hey George,
Another fabulous choice for new blog of the week. I just clicked over and Andy’s blog rocks.
Can any of us writers, bloggers, or whatever we call ourselves ever learn enough about our trade? I don’t think so. Therefore, I’m now following Andy on Facebook.
Congratulations Andy. It’s great to meet you.
Barbara Swafford´s last blog ..Blogging Etiquette – Write The Wrongs
Thank you Barbara!
I learned from the best, what can I say.
Andy’s site is pretty remarkable.
Thank you for trusting me enough to carry this torch.
George
I need to go over and check out your site Andy and figure out if George and Barbara are true truth tellers here! I love to read writing blogs and good writing – I believe it will be a good venture…forthwith
Yay, Patricia!
I hope you have a grand time over there. I always do.
Cheers
George
I have read 4 articles and commented on 1 or 2 at Andy’s site – they are amazingly helpful to me and I can understand his writing and ideas clearly. Thank you again for the referral and choice
Patricia´s last blog ..This Blog Has Been Hijacked…
I am a reluctant writer and now I know why. I am never good enough seems to be writer’s crete and now I have to check if crete is the right word.
Oh forget it, I am going to the site. Thanks George, you probably done it again, finding a good one that is.
Thanks, Wilma
Wilma Ham´s last blog ..Regrets, mindclutter and weakness in completion.
Wilma,
I get a smile every time I see that you’ve come here and commented. I hope you enjoy your visit to “the Shack”!
George
Hi George .. thanks for this excellent “new blog” .. really helpful.
I’m somewhat strapped for time at the moment with very ill elderly – but I’ll definitely be back to yours and to Andy’s.
You mentioned Odiogo on Barbara’s blog “BloggingwithoutaBlog” .. can you direct me (please!) to where you are using it etc .. and do you use any other ‘talking’ tool.
Thanks for your help – appreciate it ..
Have a good week – Hilary Melton-Butcher

Hilary´s last blog ..Relocating – to Melbourne, to a Lily Pond, back just 156 feet ….?
Hi Hilary,
Thoughts and prayers headed your way with helping the ill folk. You must be very kind.
On all of my posts, at the top you see a “Listen Now” button. That is the Odiogo interface. I use a WP plug in for it. I also have done podcasts using a WP plugin as well. If you need any help with these then please let me know.
George
Hi George .. many thanks for that …
I’ve just listened .. and it’s not a brilliant read – I know it’s automated .. have you listened?!
The personal podcasts might be the way to go .. so I’ll probably come back and ask at some stage – very grateful for the offer. Have you used – do you use Blogtalk radio?
I’m going to do a WP blog sometime soon I hope! So I’ll learn their plug ins and tips and tricks – just time for me. I like to pick up info as I go – even if I can’t act on it now.
Thanks for your help and your thoughts …
all the best – Hilary
Hilary´s last blog ..Relocating – to Melbourne, to a Lily Pond, back just 156 feet ….?
Hilary,
Yeah, the interface is crude with odiogo. I like being able to put my voice to my writing a lot better.
I have not used Blogtalk radio, I’ll spend some time checking it out though.
George
The whole getting up early to write thing – that’s totally me. I started dong that when I was working fulltime for the MAN. But even after going full-time freelance, the early morning thing stuck – I still get up at 5:30am and write until about 9 or 10.
Thanks for pointing me to Andy’s blog – it’s good stuff, and I like his round-ups (I for one can’t keep track of all the comings and goings in the Interweb of the writing world).
Monica Shaw´s last blog ..New Feature: Categories for Writing Samples
Hey Monica,
Me too! I kind of like that quiet time in the morning and by the time other folks are up and about I’ve gotten a bunch of things completed.
Good to see you around again!
George
